Ever the Observer - Week 2

I'm not one to engage very much. I have a tendency to sit off to the side and watch. I enjoy observing. It's fun to see what people do and how they interact with one another. I understand that I may be being observed by someone else as well. I'm not the only one who likes to hold a microscope to the world after all. However, when I do engage I try to give my all. My classes began this week and I got to observe and participate. While they were the first classes, rather than just going over the syllabus and dismissing us, we jumped right in. At Lorenzo de' Medici, we only have class once a week. So, class time is filled with as much as the professor can pack in (two of my professors managed to go over time).
Being in a new place on my own is forcing me to engage more than I normally would. This means talking to people and actually being extroverted (woah, scary). While it's been a strange adjustment, I've certainly made some friends, and I even went to a party! It was the school's welcome party but it counts because it was held at a club and there were a lot of people. I've also grown closer to my roommates and we decided to take a little adventure to Pisa on Friday to see the tower and other historical sights and museums they had nearby.
I've adjusted a lot better these days but I still like to remain an observer of the life happening around me. I see artists painting in the squares, parents with their children walking the streets, old couples at the grocery store, other students trying new things, and sometimes my neighbor plays guitar and I can listen from my kitchen (it makes for great background noise while reading).
I've only just started to dip my toes into the places around me, and I intend to dive.
