Reaching Out - Week 4

I've mentioned in the past that I'm not extroverted, nor am I someone who's bold or reaches out to new people. But it does have its rewards when I do. The institution I attend here in Florence offers various events for students every two weeks and I finally took advantage of that. This past week I attended two: a secret passageways tour in Palazzo Vecchio and a visit to a local printmaker's store and studio. Both gave me the chance to explore, learn more about the history of Florence and some of its most influential people, get a better understanding of difficult art forms, and make new friends. It's hard to meet people within class because in class we are either listening to our professor or working on some kind of assignment. It leaves little time to get to know those around me.
Sometimes I just prefer to exist by myself. I reach within myself for company rather than reaching out. It's not sad to me though like some may assume. It lets me gain a better understanding of myself. I do enjoy another's company just as much. I like getting to know new people and their perspectives. Right now I'm across the Atlantic with a bunch of people from all over. Getting to know others here and their perspectives is really fun and exciting despite my being anxious 24/7.
I'll admit I didn't do anything crazy this week, no day trips or overnight adventures. After how last week went I decided I needed to just stay put for the week and focus on projects and exploring Florence. I unfortunately did not have my camera with me for most of those little adventures so this week you are stuck with photos off my phone, except one I took of the river during my fashion photography class. I promise there will be some good photos from the trip I'm going on this coming week!
